What's Wrong?

My Claude Max 20x gift subscription was automatically downgraded to Free plan after only 3 days of use. I did not cancel, did not change any settings, did not add or remove any payment method. 27 days of paid access remain unused.

Billing evidence:

  • Billing page shows invoices of $0.00 / Paid (expected for gift subscriptions)
  • No credit card on file — gift subscriptions require none
  • "Payment failure" is NOT the cause

Support attempts:

What Should Happen?

Account should remain on Max 20x plan for the full 1-month gift duration. Gift subscriptions should not be affected by Stripe proration or billing cycle logic. Max features (Claude Code, Opus access, higher usage limits) should remain accessible for the remaining 27 days.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Purchase a Claude Max 20x gift subscription (1 month)
  2. Recipient redeems the gift code on claude.ai
  3. Use the account normally for 3 days
  4. Log back in — account now shows Free plan with no warning or notification
  5. Billing page shows $0.00 invoices (expected for gift subscriptions) but plan is gone
