[BUG] Gift Max 20x subscription reverted to Free plan — $1,260 credit missing before gift period ended

I redeemed a 6-month Claude Max 20x gift subscription on June 30, 2026. My account showed the Max plan active, a gift subscription notice stating "Your gift covers this plan through Jul 2, 2026," and a credit balance of $1,260 available. No payment method was on file.

A "Your plan ends in 3 days · Resubscribe" banner then appeared. Before I acted on it, my account was silently downgraded to the Free plan, and the $1,260 credit balance is no longer visible anywhere in the account.

What Should Happen?

Expected behavior
Max 20x plan should remain active for the full 6-month gift duration (through approx. December 2026). The $1,260 credit should remain visible and applied toward renewal, regardless of whether "Resubscribe" was manually clicked.

Actual behavior
Account downgraded to Free plan before the gift term ended. $1,260 credit balance no longer visible in account.

Additional context
I have contacted support via the in-app AI chat and via email. Both confirmed they are AI agents unable to escalate to a human, assign a case number, or confirm the issue has been routed to a billing specialist, despite acknowledging this requires human investigation. I have screenshots documenting the gift subscription, credit balance, and subsequent downgrade, available on request.
