[BUG] Gift code "no longer active" after failed redemption while previous gift subscription was still active
Preflight Checklist
- [x] I have searched existing issues and this hasn't been reported yet
- [x] This is a single bug report (please file separate reports for different bugs)
- [x] I am using the latest version of Claude Code
What's Wrong?
Gift code: 28c373c8-bd84-4231-81b2-ae6ce2ae43db
Timeline:
- Had active gifted Claude Code subscription until June 9, 2026
- Friend purchased a new $100 Claude Code gift on June 6, 2026
- Attempted to redeem while previous subscription was still active
- Redemption failed, but code was marked as used
- Previous subscription ended June 9 — account is now on Free plan
- Code still shows: "Gift no longer available. This gift code is no longer active."
Troubleshooting completed:
- Cleared cache and cookies
- Tried incognito window
- Correct account, web only (not mobile)
Support interaction:
- Contacted support@anthropic.com — confirmed it's a backend issue, but unable to resolve
- AI agent acknowledged manual backend intervention is needed
Expected behavior: Code should be reactivated or replaced, as it was never successfully applied.
Similar issues: #66259, #48821, #45430
What Should Happen?
The gift code should be reactivated or replaced with a working code, since it was never successfully applied to my account. The account should be upgraded to the gifted Claude Code plan for the full purchased duration.
