[BUG] Max 20x gift subscription redeemed but account stuck on Free plan — code consumed, upgrade never applied

What's Wrong?
I redeemed a Claude Max 20x gift subscription on April 29, 2026 by clicking the redemption link directly from the gift email. The redemption appeared to complete successfully — no error messages were shown. However, my account remains on the Free plan and no upgrade was applied.
The gift code now shows as "This gift code is no longer active", confirming it was consumed by the system. But Settings → Billing shows only the Free plan with no record of any Max 20x subscription or invoice.
What Should Happen?
Account should be immediately upgraded to Claude Max 20x for the full gift duration upon successful redemption (as documented for free users).

Steps to Reproduce
- Receive Claude Max 20x gift subscription via email
- Click redemption link in the gift email on claude.ai
- Redemption page shows success
- Check Settings → Billing → still shows Free plan
- Attempt to redeem code again → "This gift code is no longer active", "Could not redeem gift code. Please try again.", "Could not redeem gift. You can try again."
