[BUG] Paid Max plan not reflected — account still shows Free, billing missing

Resolved 💬 2 comments Opened Mar 17, 2026 by Skeinc Closed Mar 20, 2026

Preflight Checklist

  • [x] I have searched existing issues and this hasn't been reported yet
  • [x] This is a single bug report (please file separate reports for different bugs)
  • [x] I am using the latest version of Claude Code

What's Wrong?

I have successfully paid for the Max plan and have valid invoices and payment receipts.
However, my account is still treated as a Free plan.

The issue is not limited to Claude Code:

  • In Claude Code, the plan shows as Free and access is restricted
  • In the browser, the account also shows Free
  • The Max subscription does not appear in Settings → Billing at all

This indicates that the payment was processed, but the subscription was not correctly
linked or synchronized with my account.

What Should Happen?

After a successful payment, the account should be upgraded to the Max plan and:

  • Display Max plan status consistently
  • Show the subscription in Settings → Billing
  • Unlock Max plan features in Claude Code and the web UI

Error Messages/Logs

No explicit error message.
The UI simply shows Free plan despite successful payment.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Purchase the Max plan (payment completed successfully, invoice and receipt generated)
  2. Log in to Claude in the browser
  3. Open Settings → Billing
  4. Observe that no active subscription is shown
  5. Launch Claude Code and log in with the same account
  6. Observe that the plan is still displayed as Free

Additional Information

  • Payment was made successfully (invoice and receipt available)
  • No ANTHROPIC_API_KEY environment variable is set
  • Logging out/in, reinstalling, and trying different devices does not resolve the issue
  • This appears to be an account-level billing or subscription synchronization problem
