[BUG] Claude Desktop (Linux): Browser pane stays blank after opening a link — page only paints after clicking inside the pane

What's wrong

In the Code tab, clicking a link in the transcript (e.g. a GitHub pull request URL) opens the built-in Browser pane, but the pane keeps showing the empty "Browse with Claude" placeholder. The page only appears after I click inside the pane.

At first this looks like the link is broken or the request is very slow to start. It isn't: a single click anywhere in the pane makes the page show up, so the navigation seems to happen but the view isn't painted until it receives an input event.

Steps to reproduce

  1. In a Code tab session, have a PR/issue URL in the transcript (e.g. https://github.com/<org>/<repo>/pull/<n>).
  2. Click the link so it opens in the Browser pane.
  3. Don't touch the pane.

Expected

The page renders in the pane as soon as it loads.

Actual

The pane stays on the "Browse with Claude — Type a URL or ask Claude to open a site" placeholder. Clicking inside the pane makes the page render.

Notes

  • Started recently for me; I can't tie it to a specific app version (the installed package is the same one I had a few days earlier, when I don't recall seeing this).
  • ~/.config/Claude/logs/in-app-browser.log has no entries from the affected period, so there is nothing useful there.
  • The app runs with --ozone-platform=x11 and a GPU process (no --disable-gpu).

Environment

  • Claude Desktop 2.9939.4 (official claude-desktop .deb, Electron 44.4.30)
  • Linux Mint 22.3, Cinnamon 6.6.9, X11
