[Bug] Non-session file changes incorrectly displayed as diffs in chat

Bug Description
Claude Code renders edits that are not edits. When switching branches, rebasing, or anything else that changes files on disk, those changes now appear as if they're new edits. This is very confusing and has led me down the wrong path several times. The only things that should show inline in the chat as diffs are new edits that are being made by the current session via the edit tools.

Encountering the same.
Could be related to / duplicate of #94571
Seeing a related variant in the
/diffside panel (2.1.283, Windows, fullscreen). It shows old changes the session didn't make as if they were session work.The diff panel auto-opened after Claude's first edit and showed "3 files changed -1246": three files marked as deleted. Claude hadn't touched them.
