[BUG] Session limit reached - reset time inconsistent with that shown on claude.ai

Status Closed — not planned

Preflight Checklist

  • [x] I have searched existing issues and this hasn't been reported yet
  • [x] This is a single bug report (please file separate reports for different bugs)
  • [x] I am using the latest version of Claude Code

What's Wrong?

When I hit my session limit, Claude code (TUI and VScode extension) will show a reset time about 5 hours in the future. This is often different from that shown on the claude.ai web interface, with the reset time shown on claude.ai usually being 1. sooner and 2. correct.

What Should Happen?

The reset time shown should be consistent with the web UI and correct.

Error Messages/Logs

Claude code:
Session limit reached ∙ resets 6pm

https://claude.ai/:
Session limit reached ∙ resets 2:00 PM

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Hit your session limit
  2. Try to send a message to claude code
  3. Try to send a message to claude.ai
  4. Compare reset time in claude code to that in claude.ai
  5. Try sending messages to both when the earlier reset time passes

this bug still exits, I use the pro plan, after limit reached, it shows "resets 12pm", which is 12 hours later, impossible! also inconsistent with web

ejazhussain · 10 months ago

I am getting the same error with the Pro plan. Session limit reached - reset at 3 pm. Any update on this, please

Note that there's a 5-hourly limit and a weekly limit (both of which I've genuinely run into), though the inconsistency bug is still present regardless.

What happened to me today was that I reached the 5-hour limits that expires at 4pm and I also reached weekly limits that expires at 7pm (very unlikely to happen at the same time I guess?), and claude console keeps reporting "resets 4pm" after 4pm and before 7pm.
