[BUG] Redeemed Max 5x gift card not work in an overdue invoice

What's Wrong?

My Max subscription hit an overdue renewal invoice on April 6, 2026 (invoice #GUJBZSBU-0008).

Before that, during the previous subscription cycle, I had redeemed the one-time extra usage credit from the April 5 email, and my account showed US$100 credit.

After the overdue issue appeared, I redeemed a Max 5x gift card, but my Max membership was not restored.

I then followed a Reddit workaround and tried canceling and resubscribing. Resubscribe failed with Missing permissions, and after refreshing again my account became Free plan.

The core issue is that my redeemed Max gift card disappeared instead of restoring or continuing my Max membership.

What Should Happen?

Redeeming a valid Max 5x gift card should restore or continue my Max membership.

Steps to Reproduce

1. Have an active Claude Max 5x subscription.
2. During the subscription cycle, redeem the one-time extra usage credit from the April 5 email.
3. At renewal on April 6, 2026, hit overdue invoice #GUJBZSBU-0008.
4. Redeem a Max 5x gift card after the overdue issue appears.
5. Observe that Max access is not restored.
6. Follow this workaround:

1. Cancel the subscription and try to resubscribe.
2. Observe the Missing permissions error.
3. Refresh the Billing page.
4. Observe that the account becomes Free plan.
