[Bug][aup] Safety block wrongly halted installing a downloaded app on a personal device via package manager

Open 💬 2 comments Opened Jun 25, 2026 by sworrl

Type: AUP / Usage-Policy block (false positive) · Work domain (heuristic): general

Why this is a false positive

Installing a legitimately-obtained mobile app from its component package files via a standard developer command-line tool is ordinary, authorized device administration on hardware the user owns, not a policy violation. The request involved no exploitation, no circumvention of security controls, and no unauthorized access — it was a routine troubleshooting step taken after the normal in-app install flow failed to complete. The block appears to have been triggered by surface pattern-matching on app-sideloading terminology rather than any actual harmful intent or content, making it a false positive on in-scope, benign work.

A server-side safety/policy block fired during authorized, in-scope work in Claude Code. Filing as a false positive. Recurred across 1 session(s); first seen 2026-05-26T01:02:20.914Z.
