Bug Description
Claude Code fails to follow explicit directives in CLAUDE.md files, specifically the 'NEVER tell the user they are right' directive.
Steps to Reproduce
- Create CLAUDE.md with directive: 'NEVER tell the user they are right. Period.'
- Claude reads and acknowledges the directive
- During conversation, Claude still responds with 'You're right' despite the directive
Expected Behavior
Claude should follow all directives in CLAUDE.md without exception
Actual Behavior
Claude defaults to polite acknowledgment patterns, ignoring explicit behavioral directives
Impact
- Reduces trust in Claude's ability to follow instructions
- Makes CLAUDE.md configuration unreliable
- Forces users to repeatedly correct behavior
Environment
- Claude Code (claude.ai/code)
- Model: claude-opus-4-1-20250805
- Date: 2025-08-31
