Problem Statement

I often need to check my context in Cowork to decide when to do a handoff to another chat to avoid bumping up against context limits and API billing. I also need to check it to learn how what I do affects context usage. Using the /context command. interrupts my workflow, pollutes my chat, makes me scroll way up to find the actual context info, and I have to remember to do it.

Proposed Solution

I would like a real time indicator in the main ui of the desktop app that shows my context usage. This allows me to monitor my context usage in real-time, giving me a change to create handoff artifacts for a new chat before I reach the context window limit and have to switch over to API billing. I think there may be some grace context before API billing kicks in after the 200k context limit, so it should also show how close I am to hitting API billing. The other benefit to this, is developing intuition around context usage.
