Preflight Checklist

  • [x] This is a single feature request (not multiple features)

Problem Statement

When launching Claude Code from the Windows desktop icon, it always starts in the default home directory. There is no GUI way to select a project folder or switch between past sessions. Claude.ai web has project-based file and conversation management, but Claude Code Desktop lacks an equivalent GUI feature. This is especially painful for users working across multiple machines and multiple projects.

Proposed Solution

  • Manually set "Start in" path on each desktop shortcut per project
  • Write PowerShell profile scripts to cd into project folders before launching Claude
  • Use Claude.ai web Projects instead

All of these are impractical workarounds that require repeated setup on every machine.
