/ultrareview: free credit consumed when remote review crashed before producing findings

What happened

I ran /ultrareview on a feature branch. The launch message showed:

Free ultrareview 1 of 3. Ultrareview launched for feature/events → main (~5-10 min, runs in the cloud). Track: https://claude.ai/code/session_01QSikXmvrLc6tSnj8Au75WS Scope: 57 files changed, 11658 insertions(+), 28 deletions(-)

A few minutes later, the task notification came back:

  • task-id: r4j2kjnk5
  • status: completed
  • summary: Remote review completed
  • findings payload: {"error":"Review crashed before producing findings. See session logs for details."}

So the review itself never produced any output, but the free credit was decremented at launch.

Expected

Free credits should only be consumed when a review successfully produces findings, or the credit should be refunded automatically when a review crashes before producing output.

Ask

Could the credit be refunded? And could the billing logic be adjusted so that crashes before findings don't count against the free quota?

Environment

  • Claude Code (Opus 4.7, 1M context)
  • Session: session_01QSikXmvrLc6tSnj8Au75WS
  • Task: r4j2kjnk5
  • Date: 2026-05-03
