[BUG] Billing: $20 promotional credit disappeared after Claude Pro subscription renewal

Preflight Checklist

  • [x] I have searched existing issues and this hasn't been reported yet
  • [x] This is a single bug report (please file separate reports for different bugs)
  • [x] I am using the latest version of Claude Code

What's Wrong?

I claimed the one-time extra usage credit (equal to my Pro monthly price of $20) before the April 17 deadline. After using approximately $9 of it, my subscription lapsed one day (April 9) and I renewed on April 10. After renewal, my Extra Usage balance dropped to $0. The remaining ~$11 credit disappeared.

This appears to be the same billing system issue as #23674 where credits are not preserved during subscription renewal.

What Should Happen?

Remaining promotional credit should be preserved after subscription renewal. The credit was validly claimed before the April 17 deadline and should be valid for 90 days regardless of a brief plan lapse.

Error Messages/Logs

No error message. Extra Usage balance simply shows $0 after renewal.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Claim one-time promotional extra usage credit on claude.ai
  2. Use a portion of it
  3. Allow subscription to lapse for one day
  4. Renew subscription the following day
  5. Check Settings > Usage > Extra Usage balance -- shows $0
