Model selector shows 'Billed as extra usage' for 1M context on Max plan (should be included)

Resolved 💬 3 comments Opened Mar 16, 2026 by gabrielsapucaia Closed Mar 19, 2026

Bug description

The /model selector in Claude Code still shows "Billed as extra usage · $5/$25 per Mtok" for Opus 4.6 (1M context) and "Billed as extra usage · $3/$15 per Mtok" for Sonnet 4.6 (1M context).

According to the official blog post (March 13, 2026), 1M context is now included at standard pricing for Max, Team, and Enterprise plans — no extra billing.

The CLI interface hasn't been updated to reflect this pricing change, which may confuse users into thinking they'll be charged extra.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Open Claude Code on a Max plan
  2. Run /model
  3. Observe that options 2 and 4 (1M context) show "Billed as extra usage"

Expected behavior

For Max/Team/Enterprise users, the 1M context options should not show "Billed as extra usage", since it's now included in the plan per the official announcement.

Environment

  • Claude Code CLI (latest version)
  • Plan: Max
  • OS: macOS (Darwin 25.3.0)
