Problem Statement
Subject: Feature Request - Option to Disable/Minimize System Notification Messages During Conversations
Description:
I've been using Claude Code extensively for development work and the experience has been great overall. However, I'd like to request a feature to control the frequency of system notification messages that appear during conversations.
Current Behavior:
Token usage warnings appear frequently during long conversations
System reminders about tools and context appear regularly
These messages interrupt the flow of conversation and can be distracting
Requested Feature:
An option to:
Consolidate notifications - Show a single summary at the end instead of multiple messages throughout
Adjustable warning threshold - Only warn when truly necessary (e.g., at 90% budget used, not every few responses)
Disable option - Allow users to turn off non-critical system reminders if they prefer
Why this matters:
For complex projects requiring many iterations, frequent notifications break concentration
Users who understand the system don't need constant reminders
A cleaner conversation history would improve the development experience
Suggested Implementation:
Add a setting in preferences/config to control notification frequency
Keep critical alerts (e.g., "budget exhausted") but make informational reminders optional
Thank you for considering this improvement!
Proposed Solution
