Preflight Checklist

  • [x] This is a single bug report (please file separate reports for different bugs)
  • [x] I am using the latest version of Claude Code

What's Wrong?

Environment: Claude desktop app, Windows, version 2.37337.1 (ba51ab)

For months I used the Code tab sidebar grouped by project working directory
to track my work across projects. After a recent update this option is gone:
"Group by" now only offers None, Status, Date, Environment (default).
"Reset to defaults" is disabled, so Environment is the new default.

With Environment grouping, sessions of the same project are split between the
project's environment group and the generic "This computer" group, even though
each session still shows its project folder as subtitle.

The problem is not lost data but interface reliability: a core organizational
feature was removed silently, with no notice, no migration and no opt-out.
This makes the tool feel unstable for daily professional use.

Related (closed): #53340

What Should Happen?

Request:

  1. Restore "Project / working directory" as a Group-by option.
  2. Announce sidebar/organization changes in release notes before removing options.
