[2.37337.1] Routines sidebar section is hidden after update and routine-run sessions are unreachable

Environment: Claude desktop app (Code tab), build 2.37337.1, Windows 11

What changed

Before the recent update my sidebar had a Routines section above Pinned. My two scheduled tasks (a daily morning briefing and a weekly numbers report) were listed there, and I opened that day's run in one click.

After updating, the section is gone. Querying the sidebar from inside a session shows it still exists but is switched off:

{"id":"routines","kind":"routines","order":1,"shown":false,"collapsed":true}

I cannot find any UI to turn it back on. It is not in the View menu (File / Edit / View / Go / Help all checked), and there is no visible section toggle in the sidebar. Nothing in the release notes for 2.37337.1 or 2.31226.0 mentions this section being removed, hidden, or moved, so this looks unintended.

Why this is urgent

Routine-run sessions have no sidebar row of their own, and every workaround is refused:

  • set_pinned → "Routine runs show under their routine, not as their own sidebar rows, so they can't be grouped, pinned or marked."
  • start_session (to fork the conversation into a normal session) → "Starting sessions requires a user at the keyboard; this session runs unattended."

So with the Routines section hidden, the only way to reach the conversation my daily routine just produced is: Scheduled → pick the routine → pick today's run. Three steps, every single day, to get back into the conversation that is my starting point for work.

I run a daily 9am briefing routine that reads my journal and reports what to do today. Reading the output and replying to it is the whole point. Right now that is three clicks of digging, every morning.

Partial workaround (for others hitting this)

open_session_in with target: "window" still works from inside a routine run, so the session can pop itself out into its own window at the end of the run. That keeps the conversation reachable until the window is closed, but it is a workaround, not a fix.

Requests

  1. Give users a way to re-enable the built-in Routines section (a View menu entry, or a right-click on a section header), or restore it to shown after the update that hid it.
  2. Allow routine-run sessions to be pinned, or surface each routine's latest run as a sidebar row.

This broke a daily workflow with no migration path and no discoverable fix. Please treat it as high priority.
