Preflight Checklist

  • [x] I have searched existing issues and this hasn't been reported yet
  • [x] This is a single bug report
  • [x] I am using the latest version of Claude Code

What's Wrong?

After updating the Claude desktop app, the Routines section is gone from the Code tab sidebar. My local routines still exist and still run on schedule; only the section is missing. The sidebar has no control to show it again.

What I found:

  • The update migrated the sidebar preferences (epitaxyPrefs["dframe-code-sections"], migratedFrom: 1). The migrated routines section has shown: false, collapsed: true.
  • I set shown: true in both claude_desktop_config.json and the renderer's localStorage key LSS-persisted.dframe-code-sections, with the app fully quit. About two seconds after launch, the app writes shown: false back to both.

What Should Happen?

The Routines section stays visible after the update, or the sidebar offers a way to show it again.

Error Messages/Logs

None shown in the app.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Have local routines on Claude desktop 2.31226.x.
  2. Update to 2.37337.1.
  3. Open the Code tab.

Is this a regression?

Yes, this worked in a previous version

This is the Routines section of the Code tab in the Claude desktop app (Claude Code Desktop), the same area as #89804 and #95472. I reformatted the report to the bug template.

Same bug here, independently reproduced on a second machine.

Environment

  • Claude desktop 2.37337.1 (Code tab), macOS 15.4.1
  • Claude Code CLI 2.1.177 on the same machine
  • Sidebar is in the new Projects (Beta) layout: New / Projects (Beta) / Artifacts / Scheduled / Customize, then sessions grouped under project headers (health, newlife, travel, Local), each with a "+" button.

Symptoms

  1. The Routines section is gone from the Code tab sidebar. Eight local scheduled tasks still exist and still fire on schedule (hourly, daily and weekday tasks all ran today).
  2. Run sessions no longer appear anywhere in the sidebar: not in a Routines section, and not under their project headers. Before the update they appeared as normal sessions that could be opened and typed into.
  3. Scheduled shows only the task definitions. Customize has no sidebar-section or Routines setting. There is no "More" item in this layout.
  4. The runs themselves are intact. From inside a session, the app's own session list returns every run (e.g. 16 runs for one daily task, none archived), so this is a sidebar-visibility regression, not data loss.

Confirmation of the migrated preference
Queried from inside a Code session via the app's sidebar tool, the sections are reported as:

  • pinned: shown true
  • routines: shown false, collapsed true
  • sessions: shown true, group_by project

There is no user-facing control that flips routines.shown, and the session-side sidebar API exposes no way to change it either. This matches the reporter's finding that the migrated dframe-code-sections prefs carry routines.shown: false.

Expected
The Routines section stays visible after the update, or the sidebar offers a way to show it again. Related open reports: #95967 (routine runs missing from sidebar / Remote Control), #100563 (run history only reachable on the task detail page), #97406 (Scheduled section collapsed to one row).

This is a Claude desktop Code-tab issue, not a CLI issue; the invalid label looks like a bot misclassification.

Same here on Windows 10 (19045), Claude desktop 2.37337.1.0 (MSIX). I reproduced the reset-on-launch:

  • With the desktop app fully closed, the migrated routines section in claude_desktop_config.json was "shown": true, "collapsed": false.
  • I relaunched at 03:59:14. By 03:59:20 the app had rewritten it to "shown": false, "collapsed": true.
  • A custom section I'd created in the same file survived the relaunch untouched, so it's specifically the Routines section being forced off.

Impact: we run about 100 local routines (scheduled and run-on-demand), and almost every session we use is a routine run. With the section hidden, none of them has a sidebar row. They can't be pinned or filed into a custom section, and the only way into a run is Scheduled → routine → History.

Please either add a way to show the section again, or restore it to shown.

Same on macOS (Darwin 25.6), Claude Desktop 2.37337.1. Additional symptom: pinned routines were lost as well.
On the first launch after the update, LSS-persisted.starred-local-routines was rewritten as []
(same timestamp as the other LSS-persisted.starred-* keys, ~1 s after app start), while
starred-local-code-sessions kept its entries. With the Routines section hidden there is no way
to re-pin a routine. Related: #54524.
