What happened

After updating the Claude desktop app on Windows to the latest version, prompt suggestions no longer appear in Code tab threads. The composer placeholder now always reads "Enter to send, Ctrl+Enter to queue" instead of showing a suggested next prompt after Claude replies. Before the update, suggestions appeared as expected.

What I checked

  • Not the usage-warning cause from #98971: the account's rate limit status is allowed (weekly utilization 38%, 5-hour 9%), so the pre-check that skips suggestions under allowed_warning should not apply.
  • No settings file or user/machine environment variable disables prompt suggestions (CLAUDE_CODE_ENABLE_PROMPT_SUGGESTION is unset).
  • The desktop config has no prompt-suggestion override, so the setting is at its default.

Expected

A suggested next prompt appears in the composer after each reply, as it did before the update.

Environment

  • OS: Windows 11 Pro 10.0.26300
  • Desktop app: 2.37337.1.0 (Microsoft Store build)
  • Claude Code CLI: 2.1.300

Possibly related

#98971 (same symptom, but caused by the weekly usage warning, which doesn't apply here), #86382.
