Prompt suggestions no longer appear in the desktop app (Windows)

What's Wrong?

Hi, and thank you for all the work on Claude Code. It has honestly become my favorite tool, and the prompt suggestions were a big part of that. I used them constantly, either as-is or as the start of my reply, so I wanted to let you know they seem to have stopped working for me.

What I'm seeing

• Around Oct 12-13, 2026, the gray suggested prompt in the empty Code tab prompt box stopped appearing. It had worked reliably for weeks before that, and I hadn't changed any settings.
• Settings > Claude Code > Sessions > Prompt suggestions is On.
• I turned it off and back on, then started a brand-new Code session and sent a message. No suggestion appeared after the reply (the prompt box was empty, with no attachments).

My setup

• Claude desktop app 2.37337.1.0 (Microsoft Store), Windows 11 build 26300
• Claude Code 2.1.286
• Subscription plan, signed in with my claude.ai account

This might be related to #30991 and to a July 2026 Windows report where suggestions also disappeared all at once without a settings change.
