[BUG] Mobile-started sessions on my own Mac can't become Desktop sessions in the project group; stopped Remote Control environment stays green and can't be removed
Summary
From the Claude mobile app there is no way to start a new session that becomes a normal Desktop session in my project folder. Sessions I start from my phone on my own Mac land in a separate sidebar group (named after the folder only, e.g. AI) instead of the Desktop project group (AI · /Volumes), and they don't have the Desktop features (hand-off button, cross-session tools, notifications). When I stop the server that hosts those phone sessions, the environment stays listed (green) in the mobile new-session picker and creates sessions that nobody answers, and there is no way to remove it.
Environment
- macOS 15.7.7, Claude Desktop 2.31226.1 (Code tab), Claude Code CLI 2.1.296
- Claude Android app 1.261008.20
- Max plan. Dispatch is not offered on my account ("not available to new users").
Steps to reproduce
- Run
claude remote-control(server mode,--spawn same-dir) in/Volumes/AIso the phone can start sessions on the Mac. - In the Android app: Code → New session → pick the
Mac-Pro · AIenvironment → send a message. - Look at the Desktop sidebar.
- Stop the
claude remote-controlprocess. - In the Android app, start another new session on
Mac-Pro · AI.
Expected
- At step 3, a way for a phone-started session to be a regular Desktop session under the
AI · /Volumesproject group, with the same features as a session started with+in the Desktop sidebar (or a documented alternative that is available to all Max users). - At step 5, the stopped environment is shown offline or can be removed from the picker.
Actual
- Step 3: the session is listed under a separate
AIgroup, notAI · /Volumes, and lacks Desktop-only features. - Step 5:
Mac-Pro · AIis still shown green; the new session appears in theAIgroup and never gets a reply. There is no UI or CLI command to remove the stale environment (same as the reports in #50884 / #78695).

Background sessions (claude --bg) with Remote Control are retired by the daemon after being idle (bg retire <id>: settled, idle 8h in ~/.claude/daemon.log). The phone then shows "Remote Control disconnected" until something restarts the session on the Mac. A phone-side way to wake it, or Desktop-style handling, would avoid this.
