Summary

Auto-merge is hardcoded to github.com — make it host-aware instead, so it works for repos hosted on GitHub Enterprise Cloud with data residency (*.ghe.com).

Context

  • Claude desktop app: 2.2553.1 (macOS)
  • gh CLI fully authenticated and functional against a *.ghe.com tenant
  • Repo remote: git@<tenant>.ghe.com:<org>/<repo>.git

Problem

Enabling auto-merge from the CI popover is unavailable for a *.ghe.com-hosted PR. This isn't a repo/branch-protection configuration issue — verified directly:

  • GET /repos/<org>/<repo> on the tenant returns allow_auto_merge: true
  • GET /repos/<org>/<repo>/branches/main/protection has no merge-queue requirement or setting blocking auto-merge

GitHub's native auto-merge is fully available on this repo via the API/CLI; the desktop app still disables the control. This matches wording in the app's own tooling describing the feature as restricted to "github.com only."

Ask

Make the auto-merge control host-aware (use the PR's actual host) instead of a fixed github.com check.
