Problem Statement

I’m currently unable to pay for Claude because every card I try is rejected.

I contacted my bank, and they confirmed that they are not receiving any authorization request from Anthropic at all. I have also tried cards from other banks, with exactly the same result.

With my Wise card, Claude asks me to confirm the payment method with a 0 USD verification, but Wise does not show any transaction or authorization attempt in the transaction history. The verification then fails with:

“Verification failed. Please try again.”

This strongly suggests that the problem is occurring on the merchant/payment-processor side, rather than being a card or bank issue.

If customers can be completely blocked from paying because of issues in the card payment infrastructure, Anthropic should provide a reliable alternative payment method.

Please add Monero (XMR) as a payment option

Monero would be an excellent alternative for Claude subscriptions.

It would give customers a direct payment option that does not depend on card issuers, 3-D Secure, Stripe, or other banking/payment infrastructure. It would also be particularly useful for international customers and customers whose cards are incorrectly rejected despite being valid.

I strongly recommend that Anthropic add Monero (XMR) payments for Claude Pro and Max subscriptions.

At the moment, customers can be left completely unable to subscribe even when their cards and bank accounts are perfectly functional. Having Monero as an alternative would solve this problem cleanly.
