[Bug] Usage limit shows 6-day reset instead of 5-hour reset (Claude Max 20x, VS Code extension)

What's Wrong?

Description

On Claude Max 20x, I’m seeing an incorrect usage limit reset period inside the Claude Code VS Code extension terminal. - see screenshots

Instead of the expected 5-hour reset (Max 20x) or daily reset, it shows a message:
“Claude usage limit reached. Your limit will reset at Oct 7, 1am.”
→ This implies a 6-day lockout, which is not normal.

Environment

• Plan: Claude Max 20x
• Platform: Windows 10 (Lenovo laptop)
• VS Code with Claude Code extension (latest version as of Sept 30, 2025)
• Browser: Chrome (latest) also shows same account limits in Claude AI web

Steps to Reproduce

1. Use Claude Code in VS Code on Max 20x account
2. Reach session/usage limit
3. Observe the reset message in terminal

Expected Behavior

• Reset should occur every 5 hours (Max 20x) — not multiple days.

Actual Behavior

• Terminal displays 6-day reset lockout message.

Notes

• Already reported via Anthropic support; they confirmed this is “unusual and likely indicates a system issue.”
• May be related to the ongoing “Elevated errors” incident (Sept 30) but the 6-day reset seems account-specific.
• Screenshot available if needed.

Cross-reference: I have also filed this through Anthropic Support (ticket opened Oct 1, 2025).

What Should Happen?

The reset period for Claude Max 20x should follow the correct policy:

• Reset every 5 hours (for Claude Max 20x accounts in Claude Code / VS Code).
• Or normal daily reset for Claude AI web app.

It should never display a multi-day (e.g., 6-day) lockout message.

Error Messages/Logs

Claude usage limit reached. Your limit will reset at Oct 7, 1am.

Steps to Reproduce

1. Use Claude Code in VS Code with a Max 20x account.
2. Hit usage limit in the terminal.
3. Observe reset message → shows a 6-day reset (e.g., "reset at Oct 7, 1am") instead of 5-hour reset.
4. Same issue appears on Claude AI web interface (20x plan).
