Desktop app: group sidebar sessions by project, or allow pinning sessions

Feature request

Area: Desktop app (Code tab), macOS

Problem

The desktop app's left sidebar is a single flat, reverse-chronological list of sessions. When you work across several local repos, sessions from all projects interleave into one long list of chats. The only organizational affordance today is the filter control at the top of the sidebar (status / project / environment), which is transient — there's no persistent way to see sessions organized by project.

Use case

Solo entrepreneur running several small businesses, each with its own local repo (bookkeeping hub, product monorepo, consulting projects, etc.). The natural working pattern is one long-lived session per business plus short task-scoped sessions. With a flat list, the standing per-business sessions get buried among one-off chats, and there's no at-a-glance "one row per business" view.

Requested behavior (either or both)

  1. Group sidebar sessions by project folder — collapsible sections per project, so all sessions for a repo live under its heading.
  2. Pin sessions — let users pin standing sessions to the top of the sidebar so durable per-project threads stay put while ephemeral ones flow beneath.

A persistent "group by project" toggle (rather than a one-shot filter) would be enough to solve the core problem.

Current workarounds

  • Filter by project at the top of the sidebar (must be reapplied)
  • Aggressive archiving so the flat list stays short
