Quota consumption on Max 20x plan feels disproportionate to actual usage

Problem

On the Max 20x plan, Claude Code's rate-limit quota is being exhausted far faster than expected relative to actual usage. The cost-to-value ratio doesn't match what the plan advertises.

What I asked Anthropic support (Fin bot)

I raised this through the in-app support chat. The response was generic boilerplate (lower effort level, use Sonnet instead of Opus, monitor with /status, enable extra usage credits) — it didn't address why baseline consumption is this high for a 20x tier plan, and confirmed there's no way to get a more frequent reset cadence (e.g. every 4 days instead of weekly).

Request

  • A clearer breakdown of what's actually consuming quota under Max 20x (is it effort level scaling disproportionately, 1M context window overhead, something else?)
  • Consider configurable/more frequent quota reset windows for heavy users instead of a fixed weekly cycle
  • If the current consumption model is intended behavior, please document it more explicitly than the current support article, since the support bot's first answer didn't resolve the actual question

Without more transparency here, the realistic alternative is downgrading or switching providers, which isn't what either side wants.
