Preflight Checklist

  • [x] I have searched existing requests and this feature hasn't been requested yet
  • [x] This is a single feature request (not multiple features)

Problem Statement

While Claude Code is processing (the "thinking" phase), the UI displays rotating informal labels such as "Vibing", "Hatching", "Germinating", "Wandering", "Mulling", and "Manifesting". These labels are unprofessional and distracting, particularly in a technical/scientific work context. There is no setting to disable or replace them with neutral text (e.g., "Thinking..."). Request: provide a user setting to do so.

Altering CLAUDE.md seems to have no effect. Asking Claude Code yields this and versions thereof:
"Those labels ("Vibing", "Hatching", etc.) are generated by the Claude Code UI during the thinking phase — they're not part of my text output and aren't controlled by CLAUDE.md or my instructions. I can't change them."

Proposed Solution

Allow Claude Code to override the default behavior through CLAUDE.md or similar.

Alternative Solutions

Editing CLAUDE.md and asking Claude to remember to stop these messages has no effect.
