[Bug] Model hangs on simple tasks with excessive token consumption

Bug Description
model gets stuck thinking for several mins on simple tasks like "commit everything" and then it dramatically uses up usage like 10-20% of a 5x max plan and in Claude desktop app i see the model select showing <synthetic>
