[BUG] Projects missing from desktop app project list but visible in web version (recurring)

Resolved 💬 2 comments Opened Apr 19, 2026 by Cryptosafari7C73 Closed May 26, 2026

Preflight Checklist

  • [x] I have searched existing issues and this hasn't been reported yet
  • [x] This is a single bug report (please file separate reports for different bugs)
  • [x] I am using the latest version of Claude Code

What's Wrong?

Projects repeatedly disappear from the project list in the Claude desktop app, while remaining fully visible and accessible at claude.ai in the browser. This has happened twice, suggesting a recurring sync bug in the desktop app rather than a one-off issue.

What Should Happen?

The project list in the desktop app should stay in sync with the server-side project list visible at claude.ai.

Error Messages/Logs

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Use the Claude desktop app normally over multiple sessions
  2. Open the app and navigate to Projects
  3. Projects that are visible on claude.ai do not appear in the desktop app's project list
  4. Log out and back in — does not fix it
  5. Full uninstall + reinstall temporarily restores the project list, but the bug returns

• First occurrence: April 15, 2026 (coincided with the platform-wide outage). Resolved temporarily by reinstalling.
• Second occurrence: April 19, 2026 (no outage this time). Same symptoms returned.
• But it might have occurred more often without me noticing it (because I was only working on a few folders)
