Projects missing in Claude Desktop
Preflight Checklist
- [x] I have searched existing issues and this hasn't been reported yet
- [x] This is a single bug report (please file separate reports for different bugs)
- [x] I am using the latest version of Claude Code
What's Wrong?
After switching from a winget-managed installation to a manually downloaded installer (as prompted by the Cowork feature), all Projects have disappeared from the Desktop app sidebar. Recent conversations still appear correctly. Projects remain fully accessible on claude.ai in a browser using the same account.
What Should Happen?
Expected Behaviour
Projects created on claude.ai should appear in the Desktop app sidebar, as they did prior to switching install method.
Actual Behaviour
Projects are not visible in the sidebar at all. Signing out and back in does not resolve the issue. The same account shows all Projects correctly on claude.ai in a browser.
