What's Wrong?

Cowork Project Creation — "Failed to create project"
Plan: Pro/Max (paid subscriber)
Device: Mac with Apple Silicon
App: Claude Desktop (latest version)
What I was trying to do:
Create a Cowork Project pointing to a local folder containing Excel files, for a recurring task.
What went wrong:

When using the "Add files" option in project creation — selecting individual files causes "Failed to create project" error every time.
When using the folder picker to select a project location — the Open button stays permanently greyed out regardless of which folder is selected. The folder highlights correctly but Open never activates.
Cmd+Shift+G path entry workaround does not resolve the greyed-out Open button.
Drag and drop from Finder onto the project location field does not work either.

Result: Unable to create any Cowork Project at all despite multiple attempts and workarounds.
Expected behaviour: Selecting a folder should activate the Open button and allow project creation.
Impact: Recurring task workflows — the core use case for Projects — are completely blocked for paying subscribers.

What Should Happen?

IT should allow me to chose a file or a folder
