Description

When opening a new folder/project from the Claude Code desktop app, clicking "Open" in the macOS Finder dialog causes the app to freeze completely. The only recovery is force-quitting and restarting the app.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Open Claude Code desktop app
  2. Click to open a new folder (or start a new session in a different project)
  3. macOS Finder dialog appears
  4. Navigate to the desired folder and click "Open"
  5. App freezes — UI becomes unresponsive

Expected Behavior

The folder should open and a new session should start.

Actual Behavior

The app freezes after clicking "Open" in the Finder dialog. The UI becomes completely unresponsive. Force quit and restart is required every time.

Frequency

Every time. Reproducible 100% of the time when opening a new folder.

Environment

  • macOS: Darwin 25.3.0 (macOS Tahoe)
  • Claude Code: Desktop app (latest)
  • Model: Opus 4.6

Notes

This happens before any session hooks or settings are loaded — it's the native folder selection dialog that triggers the freeze.
