[BUG] Newest version of Claude Code Desktop 1.1.9493 no longer responding on Mac

What's Wrong?

After upgrading to the newest version of Claude Code on Mac last week, the app stopped responding to prompts altogether (it will think for a second and then do nothing after that). I cleared the cache, uninstalled and reinstalled dozens of times but it still will not respond to any prompts whatsoever, and redirects me to Claude Code on web instead, which is a massive degradation in functionality.

What Should Happen?

Claude should respond to prompts as it did before the latest upgrade.
