[BUG] Frequent 529 Overloaded errors on Claude Max plan ($100/month)
Bug Description
I'm experiencing frequent HTTP 529 Overloaded errors while using Claude Code on the Claude Max plan ($100/month). The errors occur multiple times during normal sessions, sometimes making it impossible to work for several minutes.
Expected Behavior
As a Max plan subscriber paying $100/month, I expect priority access and significantly reduced or zero overloaded errors during normal usage.
Actual Behavior
- Repeated
529 {"type":"error","error":{"type":"overloaded_error","message":"Overloaded"}}responses - Retries up to 9/10 attempts before failing completely
- Sessions interrupted for 3+ minutes at a time
- This has been happening frequently, especially in the last week of March 2026
Environment
- Plan: Claude Max ($100/month)
- Tool: Claude Code (CLI)
- OS: Windows 10 Pro
- Model: Claude Opus 4.6
Additional Context
I rely on Claude Code as a core part of my daily workflow. Paying for the highest tier plan and still getting overloaded errors makes it hard to justify the cost. If Max subscribers don't get priority during high-demand periods, what's the point of paying $100/month?
I've seen other issues reporting the same problem (#39767, #38335, #35704) — this seems to be a widespread and ongoing issue that needs urgent attention.
