Description

The computer-use built-in MCP server does not appear in the /mcp server list in Claude Code CLI, despite meeting all documented requirements.

Environment

  • Claude Code version: 2.1.87
  • macOS version: 26.3.1 (Darwin 25.3.0)
  • Plan: Claude Max
  • Login method: Claude Max Account (Apple Sign In / private relay email)
  • Authentication: claude.ai (not a third-party provider)
  • Session type: Interactive (not -p flag)

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Open an interactive Claude Code session
  2. Run /mcp
  3. Only Gmail and Google Calendar servers are listed
  4. computer-use is not present in the list

Expected Behavior

Per the documentation, computer-use should appear as a built-in MCP server that can be enabled in /mcp.

Additional Context

  • Computer use works fine through the Claude Desktop app on the same machine/account
  • The /status screen shows an auto-created Organization from Apple Sign In (@privaterelay.appleid.com), which may or may not be relevant
  • No manual MCP configuration exists for computer-use in any settings files

Screenshot

/mcp output shows only:
