Problem Statement

Description:

Claude Desktop currently only supports being logged into one account at a time. Many users have both a personal (Pro/Max) account and a work (Teams/Enterprise) account. Switching between them requires logging out and back in each time, which is disruptive and discourages use of the paid plan you're not currently logged into.

Requested behavior:

  • Allow adding multiple Claude accounts (e.g. personal + work) to the Desktop app simultaneously
  • Quick-switch between them, similar to how Slack, VS Code, Chrome profiles, or Arc handle multi-account
  • Preserve separate chat history and settings per account

Why it matters:

  • Users paying for both personal and org seats are underserved — one subscription always sits idle on Desktop
  • The web UI already supports org switching (click initials → toggle), so the concept exists
  • Logging out/in repeatedly leads to people just not using one of their accounts, reducing the value of the paid seat
  • Account emails can't be changed either, so consolidating into one account isn't an option

Proposed Solution

Pretty obvious, please just allow multiple sign in's -- I humbly suggest as a 14-18hr a day claude code user -- that CC could easily bang this one out auth being the major tricky issue

Alternative Solutions

using a browser for one account -- terrible solution

Priority

Critical - Blocking my work
