[Feature Request] Multi-account / multi-profile support in Claude Desktop
Feature Request: Multi-Account / Multi-Profile Support in Claude Desktop
Summary
Please add the ability to switch between multiple Claude accounts (profiles) within the same Claude Desktop session — similar to how Slack, Chrome, or Spotify handle multiple profiles.
Use Case
Many professionals use Claude for both personal and work purposes. Currently, switching between accounts requires fully logging out and back in, which is disruptive and makes it difficult to maintain separate conversation histories and settings.
Specific case: I have a personal Claude account and a professional account. I need to switch between them throughout the day, and the current log-out/log-in flow is frustrating and breaks my workflow.
Proposed Solution
- A profile/account switcher accessible from the app's menu or sidebar
- - Separate conversation histories and settings per account
- - - Optional: keyboard shortcut (e.g.
Ctrl+Shift+A) to switch between profiles - - - - Each profile could have its own avatar/color for quick identification
Who would benefit from this
- Professionals who have both a personal and a work account
- - Consultants or freelancers managing multiple client accounts
- - - Teams where one device is shared by multiple users
Examples of apps doing this well
- Slack: sidebar profile switcher
- - Google Chrome: full profile system with separate sessions
- - - Spotify: family plan profile switching
This would significantly improve the day-to-day experience for users who live in both personal and professional contexts. Thank you for considering!
