Problem Statement

Switching between Anthropic accounts currently requires logging out and logging back in, which is annoying when you regularly use two or more accounts. It would be much easier to have multiple accounts logged in at the same time and switch between them directly.

Proposed Solution

Add a simple account switcher, similar to Google. Users could add multiple Anthropic accounts and switch between them without logging out. Each account should keep its own conversations, memory, projects, settings, and other data completely separate.

Use Case Example

I use Claude with both a personal and a work account. When I need to switch accounts, I currently have to log out, log back in, and go through the authentication process again. With an account switcher, I could simply click my profile, select the other account, and continue working with that account's own memory and conversations.

I'd like to add another use case for multi-account support that goes beyond just switching between accounts.

I have both a personal and work Claude account, and I need:

Independent token management

Each account should have its own token budget and usage tracking, so I can monitor work vs personal spending separately and avoid one account affecting the other's usage limits.

Account context sharing

The ability for my personal and work accounts to reference or share context with each other. For example: - Reference work documents/sessions when helping with personal projects - Pull insights from personal research into work conversations - Share session links or context between my accounts without manual copying/pasting - Have conversations that can span both accounts when needed

Easy switching

Quickly toggle between accounts in the desktop app without logging out and back in each time.

This would let me maintain clear separation between work and personal while still leveraging the full power of Claude across both sides of my life. Right now, the workaround of using web + desktop separately makes it hard to bring context from one to the other.

More valid use-case here -

There is a service company which provides their own Claude subscription to their devs - Say Dev has Claude subscription of Company A
Now they deploy this employee to a client which also want to used claude and provide subscription so now Dev will also have a subscription of Company B which is a client company. Remember this developer is 50% assigned to this project.

Now a new client also want to use claude, but my dev already have two Claude subscriptions, In this situation, either I have to deploy another dev or I have to ask them to NOT use claude and use other AI like anti gravity or Codex as primary coding partner.

This is a very common situation in small companies. For Big enterprise or traditional companies they deploy one person on one project, but efficient and fast moving companies actually deploy best brains on multiple clients.

And THIS is a MAJOR ROADBLOCK

Support multiple Claude accounts with fast switching

I run work for four organizations plus personal projects. I’d pay for separate subscriptions (for example $200/mo for my main company, $20/mo for each of the others) to keep billing, data and usage separate, but Claude only supports one signed-in account per OS user. Today the only way to switch is a separate macOS user per account, which costs storage and means logging out and back in all day.

Ask: let me sign in to several accounts in the desktop app and Claude Code and switch between them, ideally tied to a project or folder so my primary work repos always use the primary work account.
