[BUG] Pasting text or dragging files causes CC terminal to become unresponsive
Resolved 💬 4 comments Opened Mar 3, 2026 by js-thatch Closed Mar 3, 2026
Preflight Checklist
- [x] I have searched existing issues and this hasn't been reported yet
- [x] This is a single bug report (please file separate reports for different bugs)
- [x] I am using the latest version of Claude Code
What's Wrong?
Mac Tahoe 26.3, Terminal.app, Claude Code v2.1.63
- I started CC and asked to create a web page from a Figma export
- CC asked for the path of the export file
- I dragged the file into the CC terminal
- At the bottom, the terminal says "pasting text..." and is unresponsive. I can't enter anything else after this point. Ctrl+C clears the input box, but the CC terminal is still unresponsive.
- I exited CC and started again with the same session ID
- I opened a new tab in Terminal.app and dropped the file
- This wrote out the file path, so I copied it
- I switched back to the CC tab in Terminal.app and pasted the file path into CC terminal with cmd+V
- At the bottom, the terminal says "pasting text..." and is unresponsive. I can't enter anything else after this point. Ctrl+C clears the input box, but the CC terminal is still unresponsive.
The file was in my Downloads folder, which Mac sometimes treats specially. So I tried moving the file elsewhere, but the problem still happened.
(I have a screen recording of the issue but GitHub says "failed to upload" when I drop it into this window.)
What Should Happen?
The file path should appear in the CC terminal.
