[BUG] Claude Code is consuming limits way too fast, out of the ordinary, even when it’s idle
Resolved 💬 3 comments Opened Jan 8, 2026 by matheuspimentaa Closed Jan 12, 2026
Preflight Checklist
- [x] I have searched existing issues and this hasn't been reported yet
- [x] This is a single bug report (please file separate reports for different bugs)
- [x] I am using the latest version of Claude Code
What's Wrong?
Even when I’m not running anything in Claude Code, on the page https://claude.ai/settings/usage, every time I refresh it, the usage keeps increasing. The limits are being consumed very quickly, even though I haven’t changed anything in the scope of work compared to before. This started happening in early January 2026.
What Should Happen?
It should continue to behave normally, with normal limit consumption, not above what is expected.
