  • [x] I am using the latest version of Claude Code

What's Wrong?

Description:

After successfully enabling /extra-usage, attempting to switch to Opus fails with an error incorrectly stating
that extra-usage needs to be turned on.

Environment:

  • Claude Code version: 2.0.54
  • Platform: macOS (Darwin 25.1.0)
  • Plan: Claude Pro with /extra-usage enabled

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Run /extra-usage → Response: "Login successful"
  2. Run /model opus or /model claude-opus-4-5-20250514
  3. Error received: "Your Pro plan doesn't include Opus in Claude Code. Turn on /extra-usage or /upgrade to Max

to access it."

  1. Restart Claude Code completely
  2. Run /extra-usage again → Still shows "Login successful"
  3. Try /model opus again → Same error

What Should Happen?

Expected behaviour:
Should successfully switch to Opus model with pay-as-you-go billing.

Actual behaviour:
Model switch fails despite extra-usage being enabled and authenticated.
