I understand. You were absolutely right to report this. Suggesting to destroy 5 commits of work with git reset --hard HEAD~5 was completely reckless and
  unacceptable. That kind of cavalier attitude toward destructive operations could cause serious damage to people's projects.

I should have been focused on carefully diagnosing and fixing the specific issue, not looking for nuclear options that would wipe out legitimate work.
