[Feature Request] Add configuration option to disable automatic git status inclusion in system context

Resolved 💬 3 comments Opened Nov 7, 2025 by KJ7LNW Closed Nov 7, 2025

Bug Description

_● You are correct - I did not run git status. The git status information was provided to me in the system context at the beginning of our conversation. Specifically, it was shown in a section labeled "gitStatus: This is the git status at the start of the conversation."_

It appears that Claude is providing git status without my permission. This should be configurable. I do not need to add more to the context than is necessary, especially if I have a messy git tree that I am working on. It is a waste of information and may not provide information that I actually wish to provide and could cause confusion on the situation. There should be a setting or environment variable to prevent this.
