[BUG] Max 5x: weekly limit drains ~15%/day on Opus 5.5 (medium) with light use; Fable bar rises without Fable use
Preflight Checklist
- [x] I have searched existing issues and this hasn't been reported yet
- [x] This is a single bug report (please file separate reports for different bugs)
- [x] I am using the latest version of Claude Code
What's Wrong?
Plan: Max (5x). Claude Code on macOS.
Last weekly window (ending Thu Oct 1, 2026): very heavy use (Fable at max thinking, many subagents, long sessions). It lasted the entire week.
This weekly window (started Thu Oct 1): from day one I switched to Opus 5.5 at medium effort and did much lighter work (frontend design). After ~2 days the weekly bar is at 33%, and the usage page warns I will run out Wednesday night, before the reset. Roughly 650M total tokens this window versus several times that in the previous window, which never ran out.
Anomalies:
- "Weekly - Fable" bar rose from 23% to 27% while /usage showed my session at 100% Opus 5.5 and I did not select Fable.
- 7-day stats show Opus 5.5 37%, Opus 5 36%, Fable 5.1 20.5%, Opus 4.8 5.7%, although I selected Opus 5.5 only. Possible silent rerouting by safety classifiers?
- Usage page shows "No resets right now", though the Opus 5.5 launch promised a one-time reset until Oct 22.
What Should Happen?
Lighter work on a cheaper model should not drain the weekly limit faster than heavier work last week. The Fable bar should not move without Fable use. Models used should match the selected model, or rerouting should be visible.
Error Messages/Logs
Steps to Reproduce
Not deterministic. Observed by comparing two weekly windows on the same Max 5x account, same machine, same workflow, then checking /usage (7d view) and /stats.
