[BUG/FEATURE] claude.ai Cowork (web): dismissed banners keep coming back; need one global setting to turn off non-critical notices

This concerns claude.ai Cowork in the web browser (Chrome, macOS), not the CLI. CLI-only template fields: not applicable.

Problem

Informational banners reappear after being closed, on every page and every session, so they have to be dismissed again and again. Seen on 1 Oct 2026:

  • "Approaching weekly limit / Get more usage" above the composer, both on the project page and inside a running session. Closing it does not stick across pages or sessions.
  • The project sidebar's "We've migrated to a new memory system. You have 9 days left to export…" notice, shown on every visit.

Each one is a click, every time. For a heavy user with many open sessions this is constant noise.

Bug

Dismissal does not persist. Closing a banner should hide it for that account until its content materially changes (e.g. a new threshold), not until the next page load or session.

Feature request

A single account setting, e.g. Settings → Notifications → "Hide non-critical banners", that suppresses promotional and informational notices (usage nudges, upsell buttons, migration reminders, tips) everywhere in claude.ai and Cowork. Hard blocks (actually out of usage) can still show.

  • #97679 asks for this for the weekly usage banner only; this asks for one switch covering all of them, plus persistent dismissal.

  • #86393 (same dismissal-does-not-hold bug in the VS Code extension).
  • #92430 (no way to turn off unread dots in Recents; same class of noise).
