What's Wrong?
When claude code updates plugins in the background it can call interactive git commands which is very confusing if you're not aware it's doing it.
Specifically, every time I was opening claude code, short will after I was getting a git credential manager pop up, I had no idea what it was for so I kept closing it. It turned out it was a plugin marketplace auto-update which referenced a private repo (from my company).
What Should Happen?
Background git commands should disable interactive and if they fail that should be communicated in claude code with an option to retry interactively.
Setting GIT_TERMINAL_PROMPT=0 GCM_INTERACTIVE=0, would achieve this I believe.
