Desktop app iOS Simulator panel doesn't share the Mac clipboard (can't paste into the device)
What happens
In the Claude desktop app (Code tab), the live iOS Simulator panel doesn't share the Mac clipboard with the simulated device. Text copied on the Mac can't be pasted into a text field in the panel. The simulated device's clipboard stays empty or keeps an older value.
This matters most on sign-in screens. The user has to type a long password by hand, and the agent is rightly not allowed to type it for them.
Steps to reproduce
- On a Mac, open the Claude desktop app's Code tab and let the agent open the iOS Simulator panel on a booted simulator.
- Run any app with a text field (the Settings app search field is enough), or a sign-in screen with a password field.
- Copy some text on the Mac (Cmd+C in any other app).
- In the panel, tap the text field and press Cmd+V, or long-press and choose Paste.
Expected: the copied Mac text is pasted, the same as in Apple's Simulator.app when Edit > Automatically Sync Pasteboard is on.
Actual: nothing is pasted, or an old value from the simulated device's own clipboard is pasted.
Workaround
Push the Mac clipboard to the device by hand, then paste inside the panel:
pbpaste | xcrun simctl pbcopy <device-udid>
Suggestion
Sync the Mac clipboard to the booted device when the panel gets focus or on Cmd+V (for example with simctl pbcopy), matching Simulator.app's "Automatically Sync Pasteboard". Keep it one-way (Mac to device) by default, so nothing on the device's clipboard is read back without the user asking.
Environment
- Claude desktop app, Code tab, iOS Simulator panel
- macOS 26 (Darwin 25.6)
- iPhone 16e simulator
