[FEATURE] Desktop Code tab: session links in chat don't work for routine (scheduled task) runs
Environment
Claude desktop app, Code tab, Windows 11 — Claude Code 2.1.280.
Problem
The harness tells Claude to link sessions in chat as [title](#<sessionId>). For a routine run (a session created by a scheduled task, get_session returns scheduledTaskId), no link format opens the session from the chat:
| Markdown in the reply | Result |
|---|---|
| [x](#local_<uuid>) (the documented form) | not rendered as a link at all |
| [x](claude://claude.ai/epitaxy/local_<uuid>) (the link field returned by list_sessions) | rendered as a link, clicking does nothing |
| [x](#<uuid>) (without local_) | opens a pop-out window showing "Impossible de charger cette session" (session can't be loaded) |
| [x](#<transcript uuid>) / [x](#local_<transcript uuid>) | nothing / not a link |
The same claude://claude.ai/epitaxy/local_<uuid> URL does open the right session when launched from Windows Run (Win+R) or clicked in a local HTML page in the default browser — so the session is reachable, only the in-chat link is not. The fallback tool open_session_in doesn't help either: it only accepts sessions started by the current one.
Related limits on the same sessions: they can't be grouped/pinned in the sidebar ("Routine runs show under their routine, not as their own sidebar rows") and they can't receive send_message (unattended).
Why it matters
Routine runs pile up (34 open runs across 12 routines here). A session that lists them — creation date, last activity, open PR — can't give one-click access to any of them. The workaround is to generate an HTML page and open it in the browser, just to get working links.
Request
- Make
[title](#<sessionId>)render and open routine-run sessions in the chat, like other sessions (or document the format that does). - Make
claude://session links clickable from the chat, since thelinkfield is explicitly offered for that. - Optionally, let
open_session_in(targetfocus/window) open any local session the user owns, not only the ones started by the current session.

Same on Windows for ordinary sessions, not just routine runs.
I'm on the Windows 11 desktop app 2.16120.0.0 (Claude Code 2.1.284), Code tab. I tried the formats from your table on normal interactive sessions with no
scheduledTaskId, including one started from another session:| Markdown in the reply | Result |

[x](#local_<uuid>)(the documented form) | not rendered as a link ||
[x](claude://claude.ai/epitaxy/local_<uuid>)(thelinkfield) | rendered as a link, clicking doesn't open the session ||
[x](#<uuid>)(nolocal_) | rendered as a link, clicking does nothing at all (no pop-out window, unlike your routine-run case) |I expected the documented form to open the session in the app, since that's the format the session tools tell Claude to use. None of these did, so this isn't limited to routine runs, and it may fit better as a bug than an enhancement. For now, the only one-click path I've found is filing the sessions I need into a sidebar group.
Related: #80668 (macOS: the app's own
claude://links in chat do nothing).Same on macOS, and not limited to routine runs or sessions started from another session — I reproduced it on plain interactive sessions (no
scheduledTaskId, noparentSessionId). The title could probably drop the scheduled-task qualifier.Claude desktop 2.16120.0 (Claude Code 2.1.283), macOS 26.6.2, Code tab.

[x](#local_<uuid>)(the documented form) | rendered as plain text, not a link ||
[x](claude://claude.ai/epitaxy/local_<uuid>)(thelinkfield) | styled as a link, but clicking does nothing |Use case: hopping to another session in the sidebar from a chat that lists them. The session-management tools tell Claude to link sessions this way, but without a working link you have to find the session in the sidebar by hand.
Still reproduces on Claude desktop 2.37337.1, macOS 26.7.1, Code tab. On a live interactive session, none of
[x](#local_<uuid>),[x](claude://claude.ai/epitaxy/local_<uuid>)or[x](#<uuid>)opens the session.
